Daftar Isi:
- Stroke is one of the most common neurologic disorder and the most hospitalized in neurologic ward. In different studies, calcium showed an important role in acute ischemic stroke. In this kind of stroke, calcium extracellular has an impact on its level intracellularly. On the other hand, hypocalcemia has an impact on worsening of clinical outcome of the patients. The aim of this study is to find correlation between hypocalcemia and clinical outcome in acute stroke ischemic patients. This study is a cross sectional study, involving 72 patients with acute ischemic stroke age > 45 years, who hospitalization in stroke unit and neurology ward of Dr. Sardjito Hospital Yogyakarta. Level of calcium serum as dependent variabel and SSGM as independent variabel. We had seventy two stroke patients roled in this study, which 39 (54.2%) male subjects, and 33 (54,2%) female subjects and mean age was 62 (SD ± 9.6) years old. In our acute stroke ischemic patients, SSGM scores had a correlation with DM history with RP= 1.908 (95% CI= 1.129-3.226) with p= 0.016. After analyzing the serum calcium level and SSGM score we had a statistically significant difference with RP= 1.818 (95% CI= 1.026-3.223) and p value= 0.032. The conclusion of this study is hypocalcemi is a risk factor of worsening clinical outcome among patients with acute ischemic stroke.
