- Indonesia has entered a stage in the epidemic spread of HIV/AIDS. For more than 23 years the number of cases of HIV/AIDS is likely to increase and presumed be prolonged. This phenomenon has penetrated into various sectors of life at risk, especially housewives. An effort in prevention and control of HIV/AIDS is to improve knowledge and attitudes. The study was conducted as a follow-up analysis of the Indonesia Demographic Health Survey 2007 ever married women's knowledge about modes of transmission and prevention of HIV/AIDS and attitudes towards PLWHA (People Living with HIV/AIDS). The Analysis technique used in this study is descriptive analysis and chisquare (cross tabulation). Sources of information and knowledge about HIV/AIDS and attitudes towards people living with HIV varies by age, educational level and area of residence. Emerging trends, age group 15-29 years with electronic media information sources, the age group 40-49 years to access other sources of media information. Factors of education and area of residence to determine aspects of public knowledge about HIV/AIDS and attitudes towards people living with HIV/AIDS. The higher level of education, the more increase also can further their knowledge and positive attitudes towards people living with HIV/AIDS. Chi-square test results obtained over the proportion of urban areas to be able to accept the existence of people living with HIV/AIDS (PLWHA). Print media is a source of information most frequently used by women ever married in Indonesia in gaining knowledge about HIV/AIDS while for attitudes to accept people living with HIV with a high level of knowledge.
