- This research has the focus on the study about women understanding toward their gender role when they are faced by the values contained in the breastfeeding discourse. The women awareness to understand and have the behavior based on the character of androgyny gender role gives the interesting description in their process in facing the breastfeeding discourse that apparently contains the patriarchy values. By using Bourdieu theory about structure and agency, the experience subject of labor women becomes the important thing to describe the dynamic that happen. Labor women as the representation of the women participation in the public area apparently are not adequate to give the answer about the structure which has the commitment toward the empowerment. This reality is signed by the emergence of new trap for women that are still in the patriarchy logic where the gender role is still in limited dichotomy. The binary opposition becomes so clear when women face with breastfeeding discourse. Women return to be placed in two choices without the negotiation space, working or breastfeeding. However, as an agent, as outlined in the habitus concept, women always have strategy to face that structure oppression. The awareness or existence of the androgyny gender role becomes the foundation of women behavior to produce the capital in fighting the mainstream of patriarchy strengthened by breastfeeding discourse. The ownership of capital, lastly, can make women run their choices including breastfeeding and becoming the productive subject all at once. The research with the ethnography approach emphasizing on thick description element has the advantage to form the inspirational discourse about women. Women are the various subjects that should be in the policy corridor or the structure providing the chance of fluid negotiation. Besides, the emergence of the awareness of the androgyny gender role is also the adequate contributive part for the effort to create the gender equality. In the androgyny understanding, the gender role is not in dichotomy on the sex, space, and time but it is centered on the subject awareness to choose.
