- This study explains about the role of appraiser in banking credit process at PT Bank Rakyat Indonesia of region office of Yogyakarta and its responsibility toward assessment results of services conducted by the appraiser. The purpose of this study to determine the role of appraisal service in bank lending as well as a form of assessment of outcome assessment. This study is empirical juridical, that is a approach toward problems by observing and considering prevailing legal norm which is connected with existing phenomenon from problems being faced in the study. This study utilizes library study by using secondary data derived from legal materials related to this study and also field study by gathering primary data in form of direct information from the study location. The gathering of sample employs non random sampling technique in which participants are chosen by purposive sampling that is subject taking based on specific characteristics and features closely related to population previously known. The role of appraiser is needed by Bank to assess asset and business feasibility study of debtor candidates to determine magnitude of given credit and monitoring on certain credits. Error of assessment will cause in Bank loss when stagnant credit occurs. Appraiser is responsible for his/her assessment report as long as time and assessment implementation place by assumption and provision of its work scope border which intended to releaser of responsibility. Appraiser service in form of legal responsibility federation is on the appraiser which bid federation with the client while in form of individual, its responsibility is on his/her curator. Appraiser is responsible to Bank and debtor so that Bank has rights to prosecute appraisers� responsibility in terms of his/her assessment.
