- Regional development requires good/effective coordination among sectors. In general, development coordination in local governments in Indonesia is still weak. However, the opposite case has been happened in Sragen Regency, where coordination has been run well, particularly in regional development planning. This study is a single case study research, conducted based on qualitative descriptive technique. The study shows that coordination can be done by utilizing all additional activities trusted in the area. Coordination function can be done through formal activity such as briefing. In the briefing, the Regent plays role as director, facilitator, coordinator and evaluator. It can be conducted also through informal activity, which is morning exercise routinely done for all staffs in the Regency. In such activity, informal social interactions have been happened. In such occasions, the Regent of Sragen provides time and place to share to his staffs in discussing all urgent issues. Such occasions is the most effective mechanism for coordination. Another way of coordination is by utilizing information system of regional government that is cyber office (Kantaya/Kantor Maya). Such media can accelerate and improve communication among staffs. Other regional governments in Indonesia should consider utilizing both formal or informal activities uniqueness of each region as means for coordination.
