- The earthquake and tsunami on December 26, 2004, has changed the face of the coastal city of Banda Aceh. Major disaster has vanished some historical heritage of Aceh. It has been seven years since the tsunami occurred, but the condition of Cultural Heritage in location become more and more alarming, because of the lack of attention. As a result, Cultural Heritage has become increasingly damaged. Study aims to identify the cultural heritage along the seashores of Banda Aceh post-Tsunami. This paper wants to know how cultural heritage was managed. The management which is not based on government regulations is considered a deviated conservation. The researcher wants not only to know the causes of such deviation and also to offer the solution over it. This study used qualitative approach with descriptive methods of analysis. Data collection techniques, such as: a) direct observation in the field of heritage buildings that still remain, b) Study of literature in the form of data from literature sources related to the history of Aceh, c) interviews with managers, the people around the site, visitors to the site, and Banda Aceh city government to gather data related to archaeological resources and its management. The results showed that the management carried out, as heritage conservation efforts, especially in the coastal city of Banda Aceh, remains low, both before the tsunami and after the tsunami.Cultural Heritage lost a lot of potential. The loss of potential heritage is caused by natural and human factors. Natural factor is an earthquake followed by tsunami, while the human factor is the actor who damaging and dismantling the heritage, add, and replace it with new buildings. Implementation of management so far is also not without conflict. Conflict occurs due to lack of socialization on the importance of these potential heritage preserved. Data analysis is done by referring to archaeological resource management framework. The framework of this study refers to the concept of Cultural Resource Management (CRM) that includes: a. identification of potential cultural reserve, b. determination of important heritage value, c. management which has been done, d. designing conservation policies, e. designing solutions to the program forward, and f. monitoring and evaluation work. This research is expected to be useful as an archaeological study in cultural heritage management efforts and become one of the study materials relevant for future research.
