  • Background: Protein energy deficiency is a major problem facing Indonesia. WHO has recommended F100 made from skimmed milk for undernourished/malnourished patients. Some alternatives of formula development have been made for undernourished children using other materials of high nutrient that are cheaper and accessible and can be used for children with lactose intolerance such as tempe flour. Objective: To identify the effect of F100 food and tempe flour formula supplementation to Fe serum and hemoglobin (Hb) level of undernourished child patients. Method: The study was experimental and used randomized control clinical trial design with purposive sampling method. Subject of the study were undernourished patients of 1-10 years old hospitalized at Dr. Saiful Anwar Hospital Malang. Samples consisted of 30 patients divided into 2 experiment groups
