  • Background: To implement programs at health centers with limited health staff requires multiprofessional teamwork. Solid teamwork will enable the management to delegate organizational tasks. Objective: To study and analyze multiprofessional teamwork in the context of limited health staff at very isolated health center of District of Lebong Bengkulu. In particular the study would get an overview of multiprofessional involvement at health center in implementing programs of health center and the practice of multiprofessional teamwork in the context of limited health staff at very isolated health center in District of Lebong Bengkulu. Method: This descriptive study used qualitative method. Data were obtained through indepth interview and documentation study. Subject consisted of 8 staff at very isolated health center comprising general practitioner, dentists, bachelor of public health, nurses and midwives. Result: Limited availability of health staff could build multiprofessional teamwork. Health staff available had to build teamwork as a coping strategy despite dual duties. Multiprofessional teamwork could make hard job easier to do. Health staff comprising various professions could cooperate and become teamwork undertaking all programs at health center. Ninety percent of respondents at Ketenong Health Center said that multiprofessionals could work in team based on solidarity rather than on professionalism. Conclusion: Teamwork was a coping strategy for limited health staff at Ketenong Health Center. Teamwork was based more upon solidarity than professionalism. Limited staff could not always build multiprofessional teamwork. The teamwork was influenced more by commitment/willingness for responsibility to duties and role than by professionalism.
