- Music videos as a part of popular culture incorporating elements such as audio and visual make-up, background, extras, music genre, the property also singer costume. Through costumes, singer represent herself by wearing tank top. However, how representation is formed if the costume is used underwear that is used as outerwear? How significance of tank top in the relationship of visual and verbal text Teruskanlah and Mari Bercinta music videos? How is the representation of woman in Teruskanlah dan Mari Bercinta? And how modernity of woman re-intrepeted in the relation with tradisional? Through two research objects, music video of Agnes Monica�s Teruskanlah and Aura Kasih�s Mari Bercinta, this study argues that �sensuality� as typical costume of tank top represents a modernity of woman. By using a approach to semiotic of myth (ideology), it can be found in a variety of denotation meanings on the first level of signification and connotation at the second level of signification, i. e. �independence,� �autonomy,� �erotic.� It is none other than the intervetion of capitalism and pasca-colonial ideology that made up the history of modernity. However, modernity is not a fixed or stable meaning, as relate to the traditional. This appears when kain panjang relates to brassiere as a part of lingerie and stagen. Thus, in the concept of Roland Barthes, modernity becomes myth
