- The objectives of this research were to analyze change in fisherman society’s living pattern due to bypass road construction and to analyze effect of the living pattern change on socio-economic condition of fisherman society. This research used survey method with descriptive qualitative approach. Sample was determined using snow ball sampling technique. Primary data source was obtained from field observation and unstructured focused interview with fishermen (key persons) living and staying permanently in research site, either those experiencing living pattern and socio-economic condition change or not. Secondary data was obtained from related governmental institutions. Results indicated that bypass stress construction connecting Raha town and Bata Laiworu district caused change in living pattern and social economic condition of the society. The living pattern change was caused by change in regional physical condition in which there was change in settlement from above water to ground. Socio-economic change occurred in their livelihood from fisherman to trader, ojeg driver, carpenter, mason, becak driver, sand miner, and the unemployed. Subjective assessment of fisherman living level indicated that 66.67% increased, 20.00% remained and 13.34% decreased.
