  • Aresearchhadbeenconductedtoexaminethebasicpropertiesofmengkuangstem(PandanusatrocarpusGriff)anditsqualityasanalternativepulprawmaterialthroughsodapulpingprocess.Completelyrandomizedfactorialdesignwasusedinthisresearch.Factorleveloftheplantageandaxialpositionwereusedinexaminethebasicpropertiesofmengkuangstem.Levelofplantage,axialposition,alkalineconcentrationandlenghttimeofcookingwereusedasfactorsinexaminethequalityofmengkuangstemcookingthroughsodapulping. Theresearchshowedthatinteractionbetweenplantageandaxialpositioninthestemsignificantlyaffectedtoproportionofcell,cellwallthickness,fiberdiameter,lumendiameter,derivedfibervalue.Theinteractionofallfactorinpulpingprocessverysignificantlyaffectedtopulpyield,kappanumber,andtensileindex.Theinteractionofplantageandalkalineconcentrationandinteractionofaxialpositionandalkalineconcentrationhadverysignificantlyaffectdtoburstindex.Theplantagefactor,axialposition,alkalineconcentrationandlengthtimeofcookinghasaverysignificanteffectontearindex.
