- This research was conducted in the sub-watershed of Celeng River in Pleret sub district, Dlingo sub district, and Imogiri sub district encompassing at least 2.281 hectares. In spite of the fact that there are a lot of mining activities in this area, however, it has never been researched. This research is aimed (1) to know the level of land degradation caused by the mining activities and (2) to determine the ways or the steps to control the land degradation. Expected results of this research are (1) the level of the land degradation can be revealed and (2) the steps to control land degradation can be determined. Based on Governor Decree Number 63/2003, the levels of the land degradation caused by the mining activities in the sub-watershed of Celeng River are (1) Manggung sub-village, this location is included in the moderat level
