Daftar Isi:
- Air pollution which consists of waste gas emission and noise, is considered a very real pollution that can decrease the air quality particularly in Yogyakarta. The objectives of this research is to identify the vehicles which have exceed the limit of waste gas emission level and the noise level in the periodical vehicle inspection, to know the relationship between the frequencies of vehicle maintenance and the machine technology for the gas supply (carburetor and injection) and the level of waste gas emission and the noise of the vehicles produced, to know the role of Vehicles Inspection Unit in the effort to control the level of air pollution particularly in Yogyakarta. The data collected in this research are primary and secondary data. The primary data consists of the maintenance frequency and the machine technology collected from the drivers. The secondary data is collected from the Office of UPTD PKB Yogyakarta City. The waste gas emission measured are CO, HC, and vapor density. The noise level measured is the noise of the vehicleshorn. For the ease of data analysis the researcher uses SPSS 17. The outcomes of the research show that the violation of the waste gas emission is 31% HC emission and 45% CO emission for the vehicles categorized in N gasoline vehicle. 19% vapor density for the vehicles categorized N diesel vehicle. The violation of the noise of vehicles horns are 4% for vehicles categorized N gasoline vehicle, 7% for N diesel vehicles category and 19% for category O. the correlation between the frequency of vehicles maintenance and the machine technology are -0,778 and -0,654 for HC emission while CO emission -0,215 and -0,095 for the vehicles in N gasoline vehicle category. The vapor density correlates with the frequency of the vehicles maintenance -0,711 and -0,751 for the vehicles in N diesel vehicle and O categories. Meanwhile, the correlation of the frequency of vehicles maintenance with the noise level are - 0,817, -0,344, and -0,535 for the vehicles in N gasoline vehicle, diesel vehicle and O categories. The role of the Vehicle Inspection Unit (PKB) particularly the UPTD PKB Yogyakarta City is only 8% (in the year 2008) and 11% (in 2009) of all the potential must-be-inspected vehicles in Yogyakarta city. The recommendation to the problem is to realize the importance of vehicles maintenance, the choice of machine technology and the periodical vehicles inspection which is done regularly.
