- Organic agriculture in Kebun Orchad is a farming system which has been preserved and passed on from one generation to another. During New Order Era, Organic agriculture was prohibited as it ran against the government developmentalism philosophy. However, severe environmental degradation, which developmentalism brought to bear on agricultural systems, induced farmers to take a stand against the government on organic agriculture. Slowly but surely, farmers unobtrusively embarked on revitalizing organic farming systems. By doing so, farmer's were making a critical statement about government delopmentalism ideology. This article tries to identify factors that contributed to the revitalization of organic agriculture, long after it had been declared aprohibited practice.
