As all effort to illcrease pl/blic participation in eIIvironmental improvement, required a s/lifting of thillking paradigm in tIre commllnih} ill order to manage and utilize lalld that are ecologically able to llave a conservation fUllction bllt also cOllld en/lmlce the livelillOod. Direct education to tIre conlllllmity has beell able to inspire them to conduct ellvirollmental cOllservatioll efforts, througll tIre development of landslide-prone lalld rehabilitatioll demplot. TIle demplot whic1, is built by the comllllmity indepelldently, able to divert attention from the cultivation of tobacco to other crops that have higlrer cOllservatioll value of lalld tlmt is witll mixed tree crops such as sellgoll alld surell with coffee plants are expected to provide economic benefits equivalellt to or higlrer tlmn tobacco. Such a pilot project is apparelltly able to motivate other people to follaw similar cropping pattem, 'which is expected to cOlltribll te to landslide risk reduction.
