- In the field, papaya have three sex types involve male, female, and hermaphrodite. This technicque can be used to accelerate generation cycle and efficient. Split plot Design was used in this research with 3 replications. Main plot was Varietas, consisted Local Sumani papaya and Sarirona. The subplot was seed location on fruit, compose of 3 treatments. This research was conducted at West Sumatera. The aims of this experiment ware to find out the detection technique of sex type since their seedling. The result of this research can be concluded that seed from middle location of fruit was the best part as source of material seedling. Seedling that has 5 finger of leaf was shown a slow growth but if the growth was rapid it can be indicated as a plant with male flower. The seed of pangkallocation of fruit at papaya was mostly plant with female flower. Furthemore in the middle seed location on fruit was mostly resulted plant with hermaphrodite flower.
