  • The FABP4 gene is a gene played a role in the accumulation of fatty acids on the cell surface and affected animals growth. To evaluate the polymorphism of FABP4 gene in Kebumen Ongole Grade Cattle, we genotyped a single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) g. 408 C>G. One hundred blood samples were isolated and used for Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR). The PCR product (590 bp) was digested by Hpy188I restriction enzyme for genotyping using PCR-RFLP method. The result revealed two alleles (C and G) and two genotypes (CC and CG). The frequency of C allele (0.97) revealed higher than G allele (0.03). The homozygot CC genotype (0.94) frequency was higher than heterozygot CG genotype (0.06). The results of Chi-square statistic showed the population were in Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium. As a conclusion, the SNP g. 408 C>G of FABP4 gene may be suggested to determine the genetic diversity of Kebumen Ongole Grade cattle.
