- The aims of research were to study the effect of length of incubation and rate two kinds of organic fertilizer (compost of medicine plant residue and cow manure) and their interaction on the growth and production of ginger in Inceptisol Karanganyar. This research was conduted in the green house of Soil Science Departement of Agricultural Faculty, Gadjah Mada University. The experiment was arranged in a factorial completely randomized design with three factors, namely kinds of organic fertilizer (compost of medicine plant residue and cow manure), organic fertilizer rate (0, 10, 20, and 40 t/ha) and length of incubation (15 and 30 days). The results showed that the organic fertilizer (compost of medicine plant residue and cow manure), addition at rate of 20 t/ha increased plant growth until 16th weeks. Compost of medicine plant residue addition at rate of 20 t/ha and incubated during 30 days gave the highest dry weight of total plant tissue, wet weight of rhizome and sun dry weight of rhizome.
