- ABSTRACT Kapoposang Island in the Province of South Sulawesi is located in the west end Spermonde Archipelago, and nowdays, it is well know as a tourist destination. The potency of this maritime tourism does not ignore any support of potensials and condition of its resource such as coral reef scosystem. Therefore, it is required to find out potencies and cases occurred before processing and developing the area. This research was aimed to find out community activities that is more influencing the ecosystem quality of coral reef in Kapoposing island, and some efforts for the ecosystem conservation that has been carried out by the communities, and assess the ecosystem potencies of coral reef in term of improving the maritime tourism.
