  • This study is intended for examining neighbourhood function in ILWIS software for the modeling the tidal flood spreading. The study was carried out in Western part of Semarang Coastal Area. The main objectives of this study are: 1) to construct tidal flood model using GIS Technique, 2) to assess tidal flood hazards in Semarang coastal areas. Tidal inundation has severe impact on economic activity and living condition. In the permanently inundated area several buildings have been abandoned and the road to reach the location has been blocked by the inundation. A raster based tidal flood model has been constructed in the ILWIS GIS environment in order to calculate the flooded area using a neighborhood function. The neighborhood function for tidal flood spreading calculation is an iterative procedure. The spreading models have been constructed using scenario 0.25 m, 0.55 m. 0.75 m, 1.00 m, and 1.55 m high of water tidal. Using slicing operation, the flooded area per water depth class has been calculated. The results show that the area per water class depth is 472 ha, 610 ha, and 430 ha for 0.0-0.55 m, 0.55-1.0 tn, and 1.0-1.55 m respectively. The impact of tidal flood on landuse has been determined using cross map operation. It is found that area being inundated for 1.0-1.55 m depth class is 3 ha, 232 ha, 462 ha, and 815 ha for agriculture, fishpond, build up, and other landuse area respectively.
