- Abstract The objective of this research was to determine effect of salinities on the survival rate of swimming crab (Portunus pelagicus) zoea. Newly hatched zoea were reared at density of 100 zoea/l in jars filled with 2 I of sea water. Four different water salinities, 24, 27, 30, and 33 ppt, were used as treatment in triplicates with a completely randomized design experiment. Zoea were fed with rotifers at 12-15 ind/ml. Zoea also were fed with an artificial feed and Artemia when they have developed to Z, and Z, stages, respectively. This research was terminated when zoea have developed to early megalope stage. Result showed that survival rates of zoea reared in 24, 27, 30 and 33 ppt of sea water salinities were: 2.16±0.23%
