- Background: The quality of medicolegal report of living victims prepared by general physicians in Emergency Unit (EU) in hospital in Jakarta was still low. This study aimed to prove that an intervention on the cognitive (knowledge) and psychomotor (skill) aspects of the doctor could increase quality of medicolegal report writing to an acceptable standard. Method: The research was an experimental study using a before-and-after test design between September and December 2004. The study population was all EU physicians who worked at 19 hospitals in Jakarta, where as the study subjects were those who received intervention in the form of guidelines and training on �The Medicolegal Report Writing with Medicolegal Orientation�. Before and after the intervention, subjects were asked to write a medicolegal report using a real case and their quality score. The quality of medicolegal report was measured using a scoring technique based on 14 components in medicolegal report. The value was presented as percentage
