- Background: The result of TB program in Yogyakarta Province in 2000 years was 10.479 suspects TB, 297 newly smear positive cases, 38 TB relapses, 657 newly smear negative cases and chest x ray positive cases. In Yogyakarta municipality there were 26 TB patients that have been actively treated using DOTS, 13 (50%) TB patients had no treatment observer, 5 treatment observers always observe TB patient while taking TB drug. One of thirteen treatment observers correctly implemented the role as prescribed in the guideline. The goal of study is to know the characteristics of treatment observer desired by TB patients in urban and rural area in Yogyakarta Province. Method: This study used explorative method and cross sectional approach. Subject of this study was twenty TB patients that have been taking of TB�s drug. The sampling technique in this study was purposive sampling. Instruments used were in-depth interview and Focus Group Discussion (FGD) guideline. The data collection used were: 1) in-depth interview for five TB patients in each urban and rural areas
