- Abstract: The purpose of this study is to examine the relationship between husband's intention to abusing his wife, problem-focused coping strategy, emotion-focused coping strategy, and experience about domestic violence. Sample consists of 120 husbands who live in district of South Jayapura, Abepura and Sentani, province of Papua. Their age is 45 years or below, at least had married in one year and had not been divorced. Method of sampling in this study is purposive sampling, and collected by four scales, husband's intention to abusing his wife scale, problem-focused coping strategy scale, emotion-focused coping strategy scale, and experience about domestic violence scale. Data are analyzed by multiple reggression technique with enter/enforced method. The result shows that problem-focused coping strategy, emotion-focused coping strategy and experience of domestic violence predict husband's intention to abusing his wife. Experience about domestic violence is the most important influence to husband's intention to abusing his wife, followed by emotion-focused coping strategy and problem-focused coping strategy.
