  • Advocacy: especially health development advocacy, either in central or in local level, needs multi-perspective approaches to convince stakeholders (sense-making and legitimating), which in turn, they would support advocacy agenda. Political approach can be considered as one strategy in winning interest. Political approach for health advocacy deals with the following issues: (i) who are the actors, (ii) what are their interest (covert and overt), (iii) how is their position referred to our agenda, (iv) what are their powers, and finally (v) how to win the contest to reach our interest. To arrange action plan for health advocacy, it needs a step-by-step activity, like: collection of data and information, identification of policy implications and policy instrument, stakeholders profiling (their interests and powers), finally determining the strategy to advocate our agenda. Political approach to advocate health policy is, therefore, not solely a science but rather "an art", to influence other actors (stakeholders), in winning national and local development contest, and to reach normative health development goals.
