- Background: Medical record is an instrumental tool to improve clinical care quality. The completeness of medical record in Pancaran Kasih Hospital is still unsatisfactory, while submission of the medical record files to the sub department of medical record was often late. Lack of knowledge and commitment to complete medical record chart may be responsible for in the inadequate management of medical records. Methods: This study evaluated the effects of advocacy to full time and part time doctors and training to full time doctors on the changes of experimental design with control was used to estimate the changes in the completeness and timeliness of medical records. Results: General improvement on completeness and timeliness of medical records was observed after advocacy and training. Conclusion: Interventions to improve the knowledge and skills to fill and manage medical records and advocacy to enhance commitment to the completeness and timeliness of medical records, at least in the short run, produced positive results.
