- Remote sensing undergoes an enormous development within these last five decades. The development occurs in terms of the energy used for remote sensing, the sensing vehicle, the sensors, the method of analysis, and the users. In such a development, it is a question whether remote sensing is a technique or a science. This article deals with it based on ideas of some distinguished scientists: Kardono Darmoyuwono, Lueder, Everett and Simonett, Lillesand and Kiefer, and Roscoe. It is summarized that remote sensing is a science, a technique, or a technology.
