- Background: This study was based on the idea that personnel management information system (SIMKA) was relatively new and its application at the local health office, Yogyakarta Special Province showed signs of success. This study aims to examine the influence of capability. motivation. computer availability and joh description on the success of SIMKA appl lea ion. Method: This study combined quantitative and qualitative methods using survey design. The units of analysis were 17 heads of administration and heads of personnel depar,tment. The instruments were open and close questionnaires and checklist to measure job description, computer. motivation and capability predictors. Dependent variables were completeness and timeliness resulted from SIMKA. Direct observation and interviews were also conducted. The analyses were inferential statistic and descriptive ones, using correlation analysis and linear multivariate regression. Results: The result showed that SIMKA completeness reached 64.70%, and it is related to motivation (regression coefficient sig = 0.000 and joh description (coefficient, sig = 0.008). Timeliness (82.35%) is related to job description (regression coefficient, sig = 0.019). There were supports from the heads and high commitment to the success of SIMKA application. Conclusion: The success of completeness and tiincliness or S1MKA was positively influenced by motivation and joh description, support fromheads and commitment to apply SIMKA Keywords: capability. motivation. computer. job description. completeness and timeliness
