- ABSTRAK Timolol eye drops is a drug of choice of primary glaucoma. This drug is a beta blocker agent. Timolol decreases intra-ocular pressure by decreasing the secretion of aqueous humor. Pilocarpin eye drops is a very effective drug to treat acute primary glaucoma. The side effect of pilocarpin is miosis, which may cause a decrease of visual aquity in the cataractous eye. An experimental study was conducted to compare the effect of pilocarpin 2% and timolol 05% within 30 minutes after instilation for the treatment of the primary glaucoma. The results indicated that both pilocarpin 2% and timolol 0.5% significantly, but not differently, decreased intra-ocular pressure. Key Words : pilocarpin, timolol, glaucoma
