- To find out the influential factors on social integration of social life inter ethnic relation in the society of Medan city was conducted by observing social activities, deep interview to some informants consisting of prominent figures of ethnic and apparatus of city government. In addition, it also spreads questionnaires in order to complete and compare data derived from interview. Data were presented descriptively, analyzed by using a simple qualitative and quantitative technique of analysis, then drew a conclusion. Based on analysis of data derived from field this study concluded that the main determinant for integration in inter-ethnic societal life of Medan city is tolerant. It meant that they kept to respect each other. Another determinant was social communication among groups of ethnic using Indonesian in interacting inter individual of different ethnics without ignoring the identities of each ethnic. The formed social integration in heterogeneous society of Medan city, consequently, encouraged to achieve the social and cultural resilience and regional resilience as well. The steady and dynamic regional resilience in micro scope resulted in the positive influence and became an integral part of macro scope that was national resilience.
