- This research deals with title : " Deforestation in Area of Ku tai National Park at Four Definitive Villages : Sangkima, Teluk Pandan, Singa Geweh and Sangatta Selatan, in East Kutai regency - East Kalimantan". This research is conducted to express and also look for the soybean cake of cause why deforestation still be happened in area of National Park Kutai and know how process of the happening of activity of deforestation in area of Kutai National Park ( KNP ). This research involved all farmers or process in making farm and worker of wood sector like worker chainsaw, wood puller, driver of wood delivery truck and owner of sawmill which during this time has dependent irrespective in existence of area of conservation of Kutai National Park economically. This grounded research uses descriptive-analytic as the method of research instructed for the description of deforestation background in Kutai National Park, cause and process of the happening of deforestation in Area of Conservation of Ku tai National Park. This research indicated that the deforestation and illegal logging in National Park as a result of 4 factors, and these are: height request of wood, decentralization of forest area and forestry blossom, resident accretion, and weakness of law and governmental inconsistency policy In its process, deforestation and illegal logging in area of conservation of Kutai National Park in the reality involved a lot of party, government, private sector and also society. The involvement is conducted directly and also indirectly with the pattern of deforestation, motivation, orientation, scale and different instrument. Keyword : Deforestation, Kutai National Park
