  • ABSTRACT The main objective of the program is to anticipate the possible disadvantage position of the farmers due to unstable post-harvest price of agricultural outputs during the harvest season, and is expected to generate income and welfare of the farmers. The principle pattern of the program is that the government provides subsidy to farmers by buying farmeris harvest outcome suffering from declined at minimal price to reach the Break Even Point (BEP). The study on this program aims at identifying the achievement of the expected goals, the obstacles of the goals achievement, as well as exploring the alternatives possible taken to improve the program. The results of the study suggested that in general, the objectives of the Post-Harvest Price Safety Program of Agricultural Outputs in Bantul Regency cannot be reached. This is manifested in the failure of the program to affect agricultural commodities price in the market so that most farmers having no direct effect of the program cannot enjoy the advantages resulting from the implementation of the program. This condition occurs because in the implementation of the program there are some weaknesses including poor marketing, low capability of the organization in charge of program implementation, as well as limited fund and resources. To overcome the condition, the program has to be revised. The revision may includes marketing improvement, establishment of independent organization in charge of program implementation, and fulfill the required fund and resources.
