Pengaruh Persentase Air Pada Bahan Bakar Emulsi Solar Air (Emulsified Diesel Fuel) Terhadap Karakteristik Mesin Diesel Dan Emisi Gas Buang

  • This research was intended to investigate the effect of water diesel emulsified fuel on the exhaust gas pollutan and the operating characteristic of the engine. The experiment was carried out on an engine test bed which can measure output power, torque, fuel and air consumption . The diesel fuel and water were mixed in several compositions containing 0%, 10%, 20%, and 30% by volume of water. At each fuel composition an additive of 3 % lysol was added. The fuel and additive were mixed using a sentrifugal mixer before it was filled into the fuel tank. During the experiment engine speed was varied at 800, 1000, 1200, 1400, 1600, and 1800 rpm. Exhaust gas emission was recorded using CO, I-IC gas analyser MEXA-312 A. The result of this research showed that the maximum torque at 1600 rpm for 0% W/O, 10% W/O, 20% W/O, and 30% W/O were 7.02 Nm, 6.32 Nm, 7.02 Nm, and 5.96 Nm, respectively. Power at these conditions of torque for 0% W/O, 10% W/O, 20% W/O, and 30% W/O were 1.18 kW, 1.06 kW, 1.18 kW, and 1.0 kW, respectively. At this condition the specific fuel consumption were 615.08 g/kWh, 735.27 g/kWh, 806.54 g/kWh, and 627.79 g/kWh, respectively. The maximum opacity due to emission were found 1600 rpm were 99.44% for 30% W/O, 88.89% for 10% W/O, then 83.33% for composition 20% W/O and 77.78% for 0% W/O. The maximum decreased of hidrocarbon emission was found on the 20% W/0 at 1600 rpm with an amount of 2 ppm and maximum decreased of carbon monoxide emission was 0.02 % at 1200 rpm.
