- Acid etching techniques on enamel has been widely accepted in tooth treatment including in orthodontic bracket bonding system, however, there are orthodontists quetioning the presence of white spot lesion or enamel decalsification around the bracket edge after several weeks of application. The disadvantage of using etching is the disappearance of enamel and enamel flour reduction during etching process, therefore adhesive material that is not causing enamel disappearance and strengthening the structure of tooth is needed. Glass ionomer cement bonding material is suitable for this application Key words: Acid etching, white spot, glass ionomer cement
