- ABSTRACTMilk is one of dairy product which has not been fulfilled by domestic production. The Indonesian Goverment carried out several programs to increase domestic milk production, such as cooperation between Indonesian Goverment and EEC which is held in Banyumas region, using Sumba Contract system.This research was conducted 1) to know milk production, farmer's income and labor use on farmer's participation of dairy cattle development project, 2) to analyze the factors influencing milkproduction, farmer income and labor use in dairy cattle farming 3) to.klow the efficiency of daisy cattle farming.Data was gathered by survey method. Interview with farmer sample has done to collect date. Sample was selected with Purposive Random Sampling, there were 80 farmers sample. To know milk production,Tincome farmer's and labor use table analyis was used_ The Multiple Regression Model was used to know the factors influencing production, farmer income and labor use. This production function was estimated by OLS method. Frontier Production Function was estimated for technical efficiency rating measurement On the other hand, economical efficiency measured by comparing marginal value product of input and its price.The Results of this research showed that milk production in Banyumas Regency was higher than in other area of Indonesia. However, the milk production in Banyumas was lower than that of dairy cattle kept in BPI' & HIVE Baturraden. This suggested that dairy cattle farming is inefficient as indicated by TER (Technical Efficiency Rating ) < 1 and value of ki > 1.Income farmers in Banyumas Regency was low, contribution of dairy cattle farm to farmers income was 35.26 `Y.. Farmers will get higher income if they employ their family labor and use their own land.increase ncrease farmer income, milk production must be increased, and so that efficiency by increasing quality of concentrate, employing labor more efficiently, improving cattle housing, providing more condusive situation farming environment, and by improving farmers knowledge through training and education.
