- Since glass ionomers adhesive have become populer for orthodontic bracket bonding, various methods have been used to enhance the polirnerization of these materials, including the used of more powerfuli light curing devices, replace visible light curing (VLC) . Effort to reduce curing time have led to introduction of new high-intensity light sources that has been shown to achieve comparable bond strength with 5-10 second curing time per bracket.The adhesive system must be resistance to ortodontics force during the ortodontic treatment, but not cause enamel damage on debonding time. The shear bond strength of bonding agent cured with high intensity system was not significantly different from that cured with conventional VLC.
