- ABSTRACT The structure analysis of "Kresna Duta" investigates the literary elements which build up "Kresna Dula" as a separate episode. The theme of the war is clear in this episode, eventhough, the real war takes place more in the following episode. War preparation has been made by Pandawa. Klink' their mother, also supports the plan for struggling Astina country. On the other side, Kurawa defends the country. It makes ''Kresna Duta" as a strained episode. Furthermore, it is supported by other elements such as characterization, plot, and setting. The famous story of Baralayzula is "kakawin Bharalayuddha", it is Mpu Sedah and Mpu Panuluh's work in the 12th century. This story, then, is adapted to be "Serat Bratayuda" by Raden Ngabehi Yasadipura in the century. The receptive analysis of "Kresna Duta" indicates a distinction between "kakawin Bharatayuddha" and "Serat Bratayuda". It is the proof that the author has a creative thinking process. Yasadipura does not only translate the Old Javanese kakawin, but he also understands it well and than he rewrites it as an adaptation work which more suitable at present As the result of the adaptation in the 17th century, the content of Bratayuda in the 12th century still can be understood now.
