- This study is aimed at finding out: (1) the correlation between the habit of paying attention to information from radio and the awareness to defend the state, (2) the correlation between the habit of paying attention to information from television and the awareness to defend the country, (3) the correlation between the habit of paying attention to information from radio and the habit of paying attention to information from television and the awareness to r, defend the state. The research populations are IKIP Yogyakarta students registered the academic year 1995/1996, Februari - June 1996. The samples were taken by using the area probability proportional random sampling technique. There,.: were 465 students taken as the sample. Questionnaires were used as the instruments to collect the data. The hypothesis was examined by means of.: regression technique with one predictor and two predictors. The degree of the awareness to defend the state was obtained by putting the data into'. some categories. The research finding shows that: (1) there is a positive and significant-correlation between the habit of paying attention to information from radio and the awareness to defend the country, (2) there is a positive and significant correlation between the habit of paying attention to information from television and the awareness to defend the country, (3) there is a positive and significant correlation between the habit of paying attention to information from radio and the habit of paying attention to information from television and the awareness to defend the country. Therefore, it can be concluded thatthe information from radio and has television has positive effect. Such kind of information, especially from the programs about defending the state, individually or colectively, is able to sprout up and to improve the awareness to defend the state on IKIP Yogyakarta students. It has indirectly increased the national resilience of Indonesia. The degree of the awareness to defend the state of IMP Yogyakarta students is categorized to be fair or in average.
