- ABSTRACT This research aims to understand on how the cohesion between the activity of subak and the hotels, subak activity in managing the irrigation and cultivation pattern, with the meaning of ceremonial to subak people at the tourism area. To agree with the aimed research, Subak Mas Ceti Kedewatan is chosen as the object of study. The data collected in the field was through participant observation method, by observing directly and involved within the subak activities. Deep interview was done to find more deepest meaning which could not be revealed with the former method. The result of research shows that subak people who as farmers or the manager of the hotel that inspired by the values of Tri Hita Karana, have multiple role in cultivating in the rice field i.e, developing farm effort and agricultural tourism. The chief of the subak, gives this agricultural tourism object toward the hotel owner and they are asked to promote them. The tourists who stay in a hotels can enjoy the object of that agricultural tourism, The farmers who are working in the field express warmly attitude while they are observed by the tourist, vice versa warmly attitude by the farmers were welcome too by the tourists. The servants of the hotel who serve the tourist are appointed from subak people themself, and the materials contribution is given by the hotel to the subak. The subak people who come from different background have a friendship in closely and respectfully. The chief of the subak people in this case, has a role as a savety valve in solving a such conflict so that strengthens the cohesion of the relationship between subak people and the owner or the manager of the hotel. Subak effort intensively promotes the development of agriculture tourism in the way of dividing water supply fairly to every subak people who come from different stratum of social so that every year they succeed in applying threekinds of cultivation i.e, the system of kerta masa, meabian, and gadon, in turns. In applying, this cultivation pattem,just as a symbolic way, subak people presenting an offer to Bhetara Sri, and request for prosperity and well-being in developing farm efforts and agricultural tourism.
