- To face the tremendous pressures of competitions and to anticipate the new trends in the manufacturing system environment, it is necessary for companies to consider the extended enterprise (EE), the concept of a long-term closely inter-enterprise networking. The EE consists of the principal manufacturer, partner manufacturers, and partner vendors. They collaborate closely in producing the products that customers ordered. In orders processing, principal manufacturer has to select suppliers, using the minimum production cost criteria and considering their feasibilities. The partners selection becomes complicated because it has to consider the vary characteristics of the suppliers and the decomposition of the products to their materials. The solution proposed is using decision support systems to select the suppliers quickly and effectively. Because of spread locations of the suppliers and needs for quickly process, so the suppliers selection requires web technology. This research proposes a prototype of web-based decision support systems (DSS) for supplier selection in an extended enterprise (case study in a furniture industry). For system analysis, an object-oriented approach and the unified modeling language (UML) method are used. According to the prototype testing (using hypothetic data), the prototype can support the decision making for order responses in the EE model quickly and effectively.
