- ABSTRACT A study on perception concerns with behaviour because perception relates with the "range of choice" someone has and, in turn, determines the means to make the choice. In perceiving election, students tend to use "structural apporach" rather than 'functional" one, that is, they see election in the context of the political system as a whole. The students conceptualizes the phenomena as follows: (1) The contestants must be qualified in terms of orgaizational preparation and party programs, (2) the basic ideological principle, must really be based on political organizational mechanism, and (3) the party members must really understand the function of election: Key words: student perceptions - organizational preparation - ideological principle
