- ABSTRACT The purpose of this experiment is to evaluate the effect of semen collection frequency on semen volume, spermatozoa concentration, living spermatozoa, motility, and spermatozoa abnormality. A total of 18 local sheep of 1.5-2 years old were used in this experiment. The animals were divided into three treatment groups which consist of 6 animals per treatment The three treatment groups are as follows: once (F1), twice (Fa) and thriece (Fa) ejaculations a day. The result of the experiment is that frequency of ejaculation is significantly different to the decrease of semen volume/ejaculate/day in the same collection occured ofF i and F2 on the 9th periode with the volume p.15 ml. In F1 and F3 groups on the first periode and 35th periode the semen obstained were 0.15 ml and 0,18 ml. While on the 13th periode, besides the Ft and F2 groups also in FL and F3 the semen volume obstained were 0,15 ml and 0,17 ml. However, the average semen volume is significantly differrent among the periode of each group. The average of spematozoa concentration is significantly increased. This increase occured in Fl and F2 groups on the 13 th periode (6.67%), 25 th periods (6,00%), 37th periode (8.00%). Also in F 1 and F3 on the 13th periode (6.34%), 19th periode (6.33%), 23th periode (6.00%), 29th periods (734%) and 37th periode (8.00%). In F2 and F3 group on the 19th periods (7.66%). The average of spermatozoa abnormality percentage saw significantly different among the periods of the group. This experiment indicated that the ejaculation frequency did not affect the quality of semen. Key-words: semen collection - local sheep - spermatozoa concentration -- motility
