- ABSTRACT In growing upland rice, purple nutsedge (Cyperus rotundus L.) is the most difficult weed to control. In spite of tuberous and perennial, it produces suppressive allelochemics to germination and early growth of upland rice. This research is aimed to identify and evaluate the genotypic variability among upland rice varieties in competing allelopathy of purple nutsedge, conducted in Completely Randomized Design with 25 lines and two replications. The research consisted of two experiments, namely, germination testing by tuber purple nutsedge crude extract with four concentration levels of suppression : 0%, 25%, 50% and 100%
