  • The vertical dimension measurement is considered to be an important factor for full denture of maxillo mandibulair relationship (MMR) stage. Two kinds of the vertical dimension, there are occlusal vertical dimension (OVD) and rest position vertical dimension (RVD). The RVD could be obtained by measuring one to third face height. The purpose of this study is to investigate application of one to third face height to measure rest position vertical dimension. The study was done to 30 Javanese students age 17 years old with class I Angle. Sample with no crowded jaw and face abnormality. Face height was determined by measuring lower chin (Gnation) to tower hair line (Trichion) distance while one to third face was determine by Trichion-Glabela, Glabela - Sub Nation, and Sub Nation - Gnation distance. The measuring of vertical dimension is rest position vertical dimension (RVD). For the comparison, Willis method and Bruno method were also applied to measure vertical dimension. There was no significant different of vertical dimension between one to third face height, Willis's method and Bruno's method. The conclusion shows that one to third face height was the same as rest position vertical dimension of Willis method and tour fingers distance of Bruno method and one to third face height could be applied to determine the rest position vertical dimension ( p>0.005).
