- The aim of this research is to learn the difference in demographic and social economic characteristics of the independent Family Planning acceptors in two different fisiograph,y zones in Sleman regency. The methods of research applied is the field research, by dividing the zones of research into two zones, namely upper zone (Pakem district) and lower zone (Prambanan district). The usage of samples having the methods of stratified purposive sampling is based on the highest prevalence rate_ The collection of data in each zone has been got from 100 respondents equivalently. The examining of hypothesis use cross tabulation analysis, chi square and contingency coefficient. The result of analysis show that (1) there is characteristic difference in the independence of the usage of Family Planning in both zones, statistically the difference is significant (2) In upper zones, the first marriage age of wives belongs old category, whereas in the lower zone, the first marriage age wives belongs to young category. (3) The difference of physical service, the facility of transportation and topographycal caused the operational pattern of family planning to be difference, such in the upper zones independence fully category 83% and partial independent 6%, whereas in the lower fully independent 2%. The shift in selected effective contraseptive operative medical in upper zone, whereas in lower zone the shift contraseptive is not so significant compared with that in the upper zone Key words: independent family planning -- demographic -- social economic characteristics -- upper zone -- lower zone
