  • ABSTRACT Bekasi District constitutes of industries and settlements areas, and it has been developing rapidly. In 1990, the number emulation in Bekasi District was 1.6 millions and its density was 1168 people/km`square. The development of Bekasi District has improved the population incomes as well as their living standard. The development caused negative impact on environment due to the degradation of environment carrying capacity. Based on those problems this study aims : (1) to estimate present groundwater potential capacity and its supply to fulfil requirement up to year 2000, (2) to produce conservation techniques of regional groundwater to sustain industrial and settle ments area. The smallest analysis unit subdistrict (kecamatan). In this study the supply-demand method was applied. The research showed that groundwater potential capacity was available enough up to 2000 except at some regions such as East Bekasi, North Bekasi, West Bekasi and South Bekasi. The conservation techniques with can be applied, such as enforcing regulation of groundwater resources management, limiting in the groundwater exploitation, building an extentiometer system and makes a penetration wells.
