- This study is aimed to investigate the role of acute ischaemic stroke and other factors towards appearance of cognitive impairment. Applying prospective cohort design, this study was comparing cognitive impairment in accute ischaemic stroke patients with similiar impairment in non-stroke patients. This study was counducted in Neurological Ward, Sardjito General HospitalYogyakarta. A toThe subject ofthis study was carried out of new patients acute ischaemic stroke with consecutive methods which care in Neurological Ward. Diagnosis of stroke was used head of , and as controle was carried out non stroke. A total of 180 patients were recruited for this study, which consists of 90 newly admitted patients which acute ischaemic stroke and 90 non-stroke patients as control. Diagnosis of stroke was determined using Computed Tomography (CT) Scaning, whereas diagnosis of cognitive impairment was determined using MMSE score. Patients with MMSE score> 27 were clasified as cognitively normal, whereas patients with lower MMSE Score were clasified as cognitively impaired. univariate analysis was applied to messured using Mantel Haenzel method, whereas multiple logistic regression analysis was applied to calculated the confounding factor both simultant and as whole.
