- The aims of this research were to estimate the correlation coefficient among agronomic traits on chemical compositions of Amorphophallus variabilis tither and to evaluate the direct and indirect effects of those traits on chemical compositions of tuber using path analysis. Thirty six accessions of A. variabilis, obtained/collected from exploration in Yogyakarta, Purworelo, and Magelang, were planted in Randomized Complete Block Design with two blocks as replications. Characters of three plants from each experimental unit were recorded. The result showed that plant height, leaf stalk diameter, and tuber diameter had positive correlations to the tuber weight. The tuber diameter and tuber weight had positive correlations to the ghicomannan content of the tuber. The glucomannan content had positive correlation to the starch content of the tuber and starch content had positive correlation to the calcium oxalate content of the tuber. Path cinabwis applied on agronomic traits on tuber weight indicated that the tuber weight was directly affected by leaf stalk diameter and tuber diameter. Path analysis on chemical compositions of tither indicated that ghtcomannan content of the mho- was directly affected by the tuber Ireigln. The tuber weight could he used as the main morphological character for selection of glucomannan content. The largest compound path coefficient of agronomic traits on chemical compositions of tuber via the tuber weight was the tither diameter.
