- The objectives of the study was to know the exposure of asbestos and portland cement dust on workers in their work environment, and the correlation between the concentration of asbestos-portland cement dust and lung ventilation disturbance and lung disorder. This was a non-experimental study using cross sectional design conducted on 67 workers taken as samples. The Dust concentration was measured with the Low Volume Dust Sampler as the independent variable. Lung disorder, which was examined through portable x-ray machine, and interpreted according to the ILO criteria was a dependent variable. The intermediate variable used in this study was the lung ventilation function measured with a digital spirometer. The confounding factors were work period, cigarette smoking habit and the used of mask as a personal protective equipment (PPE). The collected data were analyzed descriptively and analytically with the 95% confidence interval using SPSS 1.0 program. The result showed that the average of asbestos dust in work place was 3,1017 fibers /mL, and portland cement dust was 11,6 mg/m3.The findings showed that the concentration of asbestos and portland cement dust in workplaces were above the standard (TWA). There was a significant relationship between lung disorder and function disturbance, and the use of mask as a PPE (p
