- The prevalence of stroke is high and its treatment is still unsatisfactory. Therefore, being familiar with its risk factors is important in out attempts to reduce its incidence. Smoking is one of risk factors that are still controversial. The present study is a systematic and quantitave literature analysis. Using Mantel Haenzel formula from 8 case control studies it was found that combined odd ratio. Ormh is 1.86 with 95% confidence interval (1.52 � 2.19) for infarction
